Family Picnic - Join us for this Kids+Youth Ministries back to school event for the WHOLE family! Even though we have limitations, we are very excited for this! To see people we haven't seen in 5 months, to laugh and dance during some group games, to celebrate students moving up into a new ministry group, and commit to God what will be a very challenging school year, and yet beautiful in its own way. What a joy it will be to be together! To keep everyone safe, here are some need to knows about this event: 1) Each family unit will be assigned to a marked space 2) Families will need to bring ALL the supplies for their meal - food, drink, plates, utensils, etc. 3) There will be a check-in (opens @ 4:45pm) upon arrival for contact tracing purposes 4) Bring a large towel/bed sheet for a game - 1 per family 5) We'll be following all our COVID-19 safety guidelines, most notably masks will be required. Fall Kick-Off - First SNL (Sunday Night Life) youth group of the school year!! 2020 is a year unlike any other...and youth group will be very different too. We’ll be outdoors and in-person for as long as we can – which we are very thankful to be able to do! On this night, we’ll play games you’ve never played before (physically distanced of course…), start new small groups, and introduce the 2020-2021 theme! Don’t miss this event @ Shank Park! A perfect time to bring a friend and welcome them into our youth ministry family. There are two options (8 or 8:30pm) for the parent meeting on Zoom later in the evening following the event. Please prioritize one of these times – there are many changes to our youth ministry this Fall!
Outdoor Worship Gathering - An opportunity for people of all ages from First UMC Hershey to see one another and share in worship. Camp Catherine is a large open area, so there is no limit on attendance. Please pre-register to assist with any necessary contact tracing. You do not have to be a regular attender of our church to join us. Visitors are welcome! Register by contacting @ or call 717-533-9668. We’ll be following our COVID-19 Safety Plan. Bring a mask and lawn chair!
Fall Family Fun - The whole family is invited again to join us at Camp Catherine! In family groups, you’ll together create a Fall-themed pumpkin or wooden sign (your choice!) to place outside of your house with a message of hope and joy during this season. More details to come.
Movie Night – Movie theaters are closed, but outdoor movies are safe! We have a large screen and projector to set-up on Camp Catherine’s lawn. Drive-in with your car for some warmth or enjoy the cool Fall evening with a blanket and sweatshirt. Movie to be announced in October!
Small Group Field Trip – A new event! Outdoor activity in small groups is the COVID safe thing to do. Each small group will get to create, plan, and enjoy a small group field trip on this afternoon for youth group! Plans will have to be approved by the church and follow mask+distancing safety, but some options could be: Mini-golf @ Challenge Family Fun Center, Paint Night @ the Park, Biking and Creeking @ Gelder Park, Hiking @ Shank Park, Frisbee Golf @ Shank Park, Games and Campfire @ Gearhart’s. Exact times will be determined closer to this Sunday and be dependent upon small groups. We will stagger start and end times to ease transportation logistics for families. For now, please block off this afternoon time period.
Small Group Service Project – Our annual Spring Clean-Up was cancelled because of COVID…but we’re bringing back this Cross+Gen event in the Fall by visiting congregants in the church neighborhood and helping them with outdoor projects. We’ll divide up by small group – nothing builds connection like serving together!
