In-Person Worship - June Update

06.03.21 | by First UMC Staff

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It’s been a month since we joyfully announced our return to in-person worship.  In that announcement, Pastor Troy said, “Finally, keep in mind that this is our Resumption-of-Sanctuary Worship schedule/protocols, and will be evaluated and changed as circumstances and safety recommendations evolve.” After reviewing current CDC and state guidelines as well as evaluating worship attendance trends these past 3 weeks, First UMC staff has decided on the following changes:

Beginning Sunday, June 6, we will no longer require pre-registration or check-in for worship. Both 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. worship services will be held on this day. We will expand our sanctuary seating options for those who are fully vaccinated while keeping accommodations for families of young children or others who are not vaccinated and require social distancing.  The nursery will be open for families of young children to use as needed, but it will not be staffed. Live-stream video of the 10:00 a.m. service will be available in the nursery.

On June 13, 20, and 27, we will offer a single unified worship service at 10:00 a.m. (no 8:30 a.m. service on those dates). Please refer to the Rapid Pulse for names of guest pastors delivering the message on those dates.

Our summer worship schedule, July 4 through August 29, will be as follows:

    8:00 a.m. – service of prayer

9:00 a.m. – “meet and greet” with Pastor Jenn (JULY SUNDAYS) / New Member Class (AUGUST SUNDAYS)

10:00 a.m. – unified worship service (will be live-streamed for viewing online)

We continue to encourage those who are not vaccinated to worship virtually online for their own protection.  Unvaccinated individuals who choose to attend in-person worship are asked to adhere to CDC recommendations of masking and social distancing.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we continue to monitor the status of the pandemic and prayerfully seek the best ways to gather.  May God be praised and glorified!

    In humble service,

    The First UMC Staff
