Brian Schoettler will be featured in recital at First United Methodist Church, 64 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Schoettler serves as Minister of Music & Organist at First United Methodist Church in Evanston, Illinois where he directs their Chancel, Handbell, Gospel, and Children’s Choirs and plays their recently restored Austin organs. He earned his Master of Music degree in Organ Performance and Composition from Westminster Choir College and his bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance, Church Music, and Instrumental Music Education from Carthage College. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music where he studies organ with David Higgs. Brian studied composition at Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music and with the European American Musical Alliance at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and his compositions have been performed throughout the United States including a recent premiere at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. His hymn, While seeking refuge from the storms of life, was recently selected as the winning submission for the Notre Dame Children’s Choir’s 2016 Hymn Competition. Brian is a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM), the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.

The recital is free and open to everyone. A free-will offering will be received.
